Colorful Sales Flyers
In
today's world, you have about 3 seconds to capture someone's attention with a
sales flyer. Trying to add too much "text" or "information" on one 8 x 11
sheet of paper can be a turn off to a potential customer who is suffering from
informatin-overload -- which today, is almost everyone!
Most of us are now programmed for "sales aversion". That one-second instinct to hold up your hand and say, "please, I'm not interested." In my opinion, this new sales aversion is due to the constant 24-hour-a-day sales pitch that never ends; from morning tv, through the work day, to the late night news. Every magazine, every website, every stadium wall, every bus, bench, awning. There really is no end to it.
The sales approach must be different today to get beyond the sales aversion. I belive it is best to capture attention with color, art, maybe a picture, maybe a graphic or two, with just a few little breadcrumbs of info. This way, the potention customer's attention is on art/beauty. They are already pulled in before they realize it is another sales pitch. Once you have their initial attention with that first little breadcrumb, like a little squirrel, they will take a few steps forward to see if there is another little breadcrumb.
That first artistic artwork will capture their attention, and upon a second look, they will see a more information link, contact information or a web address. Once their artistic interest is peaked, they are beyond their "information overload". They're in.
Just ask yourself, if you see big loud screaming headlines with too much sales info, isn't it really a turn-off? You know it is.
